The latest Shimano Di2 version of Ultegra: the R8170!
The R8170 is still electric, but now also available in 12speed just like Campagnolo and SRAM!
The R8170 shifts smoothly, the engineers at Shimano have focused a lot on that.
Compared to SRAM ETAP, the group is relatively heavy, that’s because Shimano opted for a central battery in the seat post.
Contrary to claims, the R8170 is not completely wireless, the battery feeds the derailleurs from the seat post with a visible cable. That makes the group relatively heavy and also fragile.
Market leader Shimano delivered a solid group that many looked forward to just the same.
